Welcome to the memorial page for

Rocky Brown

September 14, 2017

Rocky Brown, dog age 63, passed away on September 14th after a brief illness.

He is survived by his owners, Randy and Kara, and his adopted puppy, Barley. He was preceded in death by housemates JJ and Clyde.

Rocky came to his family in February of 2008 from McDowell County. He was so small that it was originally thought he was a Jack Russell but he quickly grew to over 90 lbs. He loved food and did not love to share it.

In 2013, Rocky became “Papa Rock” when he adopted a homeless puppy now known as Barley. Rocky worked as a day-time greeter and night-time guard at It Can Be Arranged Florist for many years before retiring at home to watch over Barley.

Rocky was a horrible puppy. He loved to run away from his mom and make her late for work and to jump out of the car and chase it home. On more than one occasion, he pooped in the flower shop front window for all to see. Rocky was notoriously mean to other dogs until Barley came into his life. He was no stranger to trouble and even had run-ins with the police.

As he aged, Rocky's personality mellowed and was able to enjoy chasing bikes and tennis balls instead of other dogs and cars. He was an excellent car rider. He loved Milk Bone “biscuits” and was excited each morning when his people would leave because he knew it meant he would get his beloved breakfast treat. He often tricked his Nana into giving him extra biscuits. Rocky knew the sound of a cheese wrapper and always showed up in the kitchen in the hopes that he would be given a bite of his favorite people food. He was, however, picky about his cheese and “processed cheese foods” would never suffice.

Rocky grew to be a very sweet and loving dog who greatly enjoyed ear rubs, belly rubs, and butt scratches. He would often sleep alone but liked to crawl into bed in the mornings to soak up some snuggles. If the sun was shining at all, you could be sure that he would by lying outside in a sunbeam . Rocky was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

No services are to be held at this time but Rocky's family requests that you give your own pets extra hugs and kisses in his memory.
